4S Student Artist Spotlight for World Art Day!
In honor of #WorldArtDay, we’re featuring one of our former 4S Student-Artists, Agnes, her art and experience with the 4S Education Foundation Mentorship Program!
Meet Agnes!
Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and your course of study?
A: Hello! My name is Agnes Aragones. I was part of the 4S Scholars 2021 cohort. I’m currently studying Design with a Computer Science minor at the University of California, Davis.
Q: How has the 4S Education Program helped you achieve your higher education goals?
A: My time with 4S has been such a humbling experience, having learned so much from others as well as learning more about myself. I made this project for my design class and wanted to touch a part of my identity that I didn’t think that much about till I got here to Davis. Prior to 4S, I was so lost with the concept of higher academia, but with the guidance and encouragement from my mentors, I was able to apply and get into schools that noticed my worth as a student, artist, and person.
Q: What impact do you hope to make with your art?
A: After experiencing the initial challenges and adversities that came along with being a first-generation, low-income college student in a well-known college, I wanted to give proper credit and highlight the process and mindset I had during the college application process. My goal was to give comfort and reassurance to students who shared my background.
