#MentorMonday: Aghigh Banitaba
Mentors are a vital part of our organization who meet at least 30 hours with their mentees and guide them through the college process. This November, we are continuing with our weekly series called “#MentorMonday” where we feature our dedicated and hardworking mentors.
For today’s #MentorMonday, we will be featuring one of our newest 4SEDmentors. Meet Aghigh Banitaba! We asked her some questions. You could get to know more about Aghigh below:
Meet Aghigh!
Q: What college will you attend this Fall?
A: Aghigh is part of UCLA’s Class of 2026!
Q: What is your major/field of study?
A: At UCLA, she will be studying Human Biology and Society, and is on the Premed track.
Q: What are some of your significant accomplishments and extracurricular activities?
A: For the past two years, Aghigh was the captain of her school’s Academic Decathlon Team. Additionally, she started her district’s chapter of Generation Up, which is an organization advocating for equity in education. During her time there, she co-wrote and passed a Student Bill of Rights in her district. Aside from those accomplishments, Aghigh was part of the Los Angeles County Superintendent’s advisory council, in which she had very exciting opportunities, such as co-writing a letter to the Biden-Harris Administration after the elections and facilitating a podcast on the burden of resilience that reached over 300 educators in the county.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do?
A: Aghigh was born in Iran and loves to share her culture and its different aspects through food, pictures, and language. One of her favorite foods is Persian food. She also loves to have long philosophical conversations where everyone loses track of time due to the interesting subjects and concepts. Additionally, Aghigh loves listening to music and even loves it when she discovers new artists.
