Native American Heritage Month

Happy Native American Heritage Month!

The month of November is the time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions and history of the Native American people. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of the Native people’s challenges historically and in the present. In 1990 Congress passed and President George H. W. Bush signed into law a joint resolution designating the month of November as the first National American Indian Heritage Month. Additionally, the day after Thanksgiving every year is National Native American Day. It is a way of honoring those who have been part of the American tradition before the United States was established.
