Quote of the Day, Martin Luther King, Jr.
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King Jr.
The 4S Education Foundation values the importance of education, passing on our experiences and knowledge from our mentors to our students: everyone involved in our program.
Our director, Dr. Chase, has lots of innovative mentoring practices to give to fellow mentors and mentees. Since our mentors have gone through the experience of applying to college, choosing their major, navigating the FAFSA form, going to college interviews, and more, they have lots of advice and tips that they can pass on to our high school seniors. We believe that everyone learns and benefits from this educational process. High school seniors can learn more about the college application process and financial aid forms without feeling lost and scared. This allows them to be reassured by our mentors. On the other hand, our mentors also benefit because they’re able to use their experiences to provide help and guidance to other students who may have been in the same boat as them when they were in high school.
A 4S scholar and mentor has character and perseveres through challenges, including going through college applications and everything with it. However, we ensure that we help each other throughout the whole process.
