4S Student Spotlight: Shekinah Laylo
Today’s spotlight features Shekinah Laylo, a former student in the 4S Education Program.
Shekinah’s passion and responsibility for helping family members with serious health issues led her to graduate with honors from UCLA in Clinical Psychology. While at UCLA, she became the President of Society for Physical and Occupational Therapy at UCLA, a pre-PT/OT club dedicated to maximizing career guidance, clinical exposure, and community outreach for its members.
Today, Shekinah is completing her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Occupational therapy (OT) is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges. Occupational therapists use everyday activities, exercises, and other therapies to help their patients regain independence, changing their lives for the better.
We’re so proud of the path Shekinah has chosen to make a difference in people’s lives. It’s been made possible by the guidance of 4S mentors who helped her achieve goals in her academic career.
