#FollowFriday: Asian Youth Center (AYC)

As a nonprofit, the 4S Education Foundation understands the value of community support.

For today’s #FollowFriday, we’re featuring, the Asian Youth Center, a local nonprofit organization that’s helped many of our students and their families.

Asian Youth Center (AYC) is a nonprofit organization based in the SGV. The Asian Youth Project was established in 1989 by the Asian Task Force of the United Way. Their work includes uplifting low-income, immigrant, and at-risk youth to achieve success. They currently serve over 1,400 youth and their families within Los Angeles County, California.

“Along the way, AYC expanded its scope and services to include youth and families of all ethnicities, while still retaining its core cultural and linguistic competence with Asian immigrants. Today, AYC provides culturally appropriate services in Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Spanish, and English. Currently, AYC has offices in San Gabriel, Huntington Park, Hawthorne, Pomona and Lancaster. Our combined facilities in San Gabriel have recreation areas, an indoor basketball court, a computer lab, classrooms, and office space.”

AYC also offers academic scholarships of $500-$1,500 per student to offset their college expenses.

Volunteering for nonprofit organizations like AYC is a great way to support your local community, while adding life-changing extracurriculars to your college application. For more information on how you can get involved, reach out to one of our 4S Mentors!
