It's time to start brainstorming college applications

Calling all incoming seniors in high school! It’s time to start brainstorming college applications. Although it may seem easy pushing off college applications until the college application deadline comes closer, it’s never too early to start writing your college applications. Another thing, college applications are due during the school year. It can be hard to balance writing college applications during the school years while juggling homework so start thinking about your college applications now!

Some things to consider at the moment are:

  1. What environment do you like?

    1. Do you like living in city, the beach, the mountains?

    2. Are things walking distance?

    3. Are there things to do walking distance from school?

    4. Are you close or far from home?

  2. Does the school have your major?

    1. Is it easy to switch majors if you’re entirely set on the major you’re applying with?

    2. Does the school have special programs such as Oregon State University’s Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy or Olin College of Engineering’s senior capstone?

  3. Is the class size large, medium, or small?

  4. What campus life like?

    1. Is there Greek life? Would you want to be a part of the Greek life?

    2. What is there to do on the weekends?

  5. Is the school close or far?

    1. Will you have to put in extra expenses traveling to and from home (via driving, plane, etc.)?

  6. Are there any clubs or other extracurriculars that you are interested in?

    1. What clubs or sports that you are into and may want to explore in college?

  7. Are there fun classes that you would want to take on campus? Some classes may include:

    2. Tractor driving

    3. Beekeeping

    4. Kinesiology/sport classes
