Katie Wu
Meet Katie Wu, 4S Executive Director, Mentor and Blog Contributor, who has benefited from the 4S Education Foundation Mentorship Program.
Katie is a third-year bioengineering major at UCLA. She aims to go to medical school and pursue high-level research combining engineering and medicine to create novel therapies and technologies for patients. Some hobbies include watching sports (catch her at the next Dodgers game!), playing volleyball, finding new coffee or boba shops, and making Spotify playlists.
Q: How did the 4S Education Foundation impact your life?
A: Dr. Chase (CEO of 4S Education Foundation) helped me organize and edit my college applications to give me the best opportunities. Through hours of advice and work, he brought me one large step closer toward reaching my future goals. He created the 4S Education Foundation to reach even more students around Los Angeles County and the United States.
As a mentor, I have guided three years of students through the confusing college application process and shown them opportunities some did not even know existed. Through this process, the 4S Education Foundation has opened my eyes further to education inequality and showed me my passion for sharing knowledge and mentoring others, especially those from underserved or underrepresented backgrounds. I aim to keep mentoring for 4S in the coming years and bring this newfound passion with me to medical school and beyond!
